RUSSELL RACING KICKS-OFF YOUTH FOOTBALL SPONSORSHIP DEAL
Single-seater motor racing team Russell Racing is delighted to announce its sponsorship of Pinner United Football Club’s Under 8’s squad, the youngsters having kicked-off their first match of the 2007/2008 season on Sunday.
Underlining its commitment to the local community – Russell Racing’s head office based in the nearby North London area of Harlesden – the Formula Renault team has happily offered its support to the seven-a-side squad of youngsters in an agreement which sees the Russell Racing logo featured prominently on the club’s shirts.
Registered as a youth football club in 1994 by chairman and current Under 8’s manager Dave Howes, a qualified Football Association coach, Pinner United FC has several squads covering a variety of age brackets, the Under 8’s being the youngest.
Speaking on the agreement, Russell Racing team owner Tim Russell said: “We’re very happy to be able to offer our support to Pinner United FC’s Under 8’s and we wish them every success throughout the season.
“We’re firm believers in helping where possible in the local community and the work Pinner United does with its youngsters is fantastic. They’re a super bunch of kids with a great deal of promise and they all absolutely love their football.”
The Pinner United FC Under 8’s took part in their first match of the season on Sunday, away to Harlington FC, and although losing 4-2 there were plenty of positives for the youngsters to take from the game.
With the match finely poised at 2-2 with just a couple of minutes to go to the final whistle, the home side managed to take the lead and then made the result certain marginally before full time. Although an unfortunate end to Pinner United FC Under 8’s first game, the team does have a great deal of optimism for the remainder of the campaign.
As far as Russell Racing’s motorsport commitments go, the team is now concentrating on preparations for 2008 where it aims to return to Formula Renault UK while also continuing in the sister Formula Renault BARC series.
