RUSSELL RACING UNVEILS STRIKING NEW LIVERY

Formula Renault BARC entrant Russell Racing made its 2008 track debut at Silverstone National Circuit in Northamptonshire yesterday, Friday, 29th February, unveiling the striking metallic green colour scheme which will form the basis of the team’s new livery.

Podium finisher and category front-runner Aaron Steele joined his new rookie team-mate Don de Graaff at Silverstone, both drivers taking the opportunity of running at the general test day in order to shake-down their FR2000 Class cars.

With 19-year-old Rochester sensation Steele fully expected to be a championship challenger this year after racing to fifth overall in the title standings in 2007, Russell Racing is looking ahead to an exciting season.

For 16-year-old karting graduate De Graaff, the 2008 Formula Renault BARC campaign will come as a completely fresh challenge but the youngster from Weybridge in Surrey is showing signs it will not take him long to get to grips with the 2.0-litre single-seater.

“Everything went ok today”, commented Matt Russell, “The idea was to simply shake the cars down and for Aaron and Don to become more familiar with everyone in the team. It’s good to be back on track, we’re looking forward now to the remainder of the pre-season and to also build a successful championship campaign.”

With a number of changes having taken place in relation to the structure and location of the team over the winter break, Russell Racing is aiming to return to the front-running performances it displayed in 2006.

Although given a glimpse of the metallic green colour scheme at Silverstone yesterday, the full green, white and red livery isn’t expected to be unveiled until the opening two rounds of the season which will take place at Brands Hatch Indy Circuit, Kent, over the Easter Weekend, 23rd/24th March.
